  1. Naming our grief, lament, is an important step for communities to live in reality. And, it allows us to access authentic hope. In what ways do you tend to express lament? How was it expressed in your family when you were growing up? How did you witness adults express grief?
  2. How can a church service make people feeling sad feel welcome?
  3. What do you need to grieve or lament in this season?
  4. Hope is something we can train to grow in. Where do you have the opportunity to practice patience, and waiting in your life? Perhaps bird watching, or gardening, or a similar outdoors patient experience is available to you.
  5. Off the Wall: Media that we watch can so easily express hype, as a substitute for authentic hope. Is there a movie or book in which you have seen authentic hope in place of hype?
