Lamentations 5:1-22
  1. Lamentations 5 is full of desperation and longing. Are there phrases you can personally relate to, either now or in your past?
  2. Are there phrases that people close to you can relate to right now? Are there phrases people in the world can relate to right now?
  3. While it is relatable, Lamentations 5 is not a generic lament but belongs to a specific context. Who prayed it in the first place, and what is the reason for their suffering?
  4. If the judgment and the hope of Lamentations 5 applies to a particular people, in what way does it also expand to include us today? (See Genesis 12:1-3, Matthew 5:17 and Romans 11:17-20 for help with this).
  5. Read Romans 8:22-27 slowly and take note of how it reiterates and expands the laments of Jerusalem, and pray for the hope that it extends to you as well. Lament specific things that came up in questions 1 and 2.
