Luke 1:5-24
  1. Imagine being Zechariah. Wife is barren, you are both old, and an Angel tells you that you will get pregnant and have a son. What feelings are you experiencing as you hear this news? Fear? Doubt? Joy?

  2. Do you think Zechariah should have been punished? Why did he receive such treatment for his question? Why is his ability to speak the sign or symbol of his disbelief?

  3. What is God trying to show us about himself through this narrative?

  4. Elizabeth is mentioned at the start and the end. It is her disgrace to honour that is emphasized. How is this story a blessing and encouragment to women at that time? How about to women, now?

  5. Off the Wall: If you were to draw a picture of the scene of Zechariah and the Angel, how would you visualize their meeting? Both standing? One sitting? Can you read Zechariah's disbelief in his posture or his facial expression?
