Matthew 5:1-10

Matthew 5:5 (in context of Matthew 5:1-10)

  1. When you think of the word meek - what Animal best represents your understanding of "meekness"?

  1. Would you feel it a compliment to be called Meek? Why or why not?

  1. Disregarding modern english understanding that meek equals doormat, let us instead think of meek as gentle giants. "Look up, waaay up." People with power and strength who do not use it dominate or intimidate others. With that definition of meek, what particular jobs would be hard to be meek while fulfilling the role? Such as, a defensive lineman on a football team.

  1. Tell a story of a time when someone was very gentle and meek to you: when a person with power to spare was able to wield that power with gentleness and meekness. When you experienced the presence of meekness first hand.

  1. Off the Wall: is there a painting or sculpture that represents to you, meekness?
